Patients are responsible for contacting the surgery to find out the results of investigations such as blood tests, urine tests, x-rays and ECG’s.
Receptionists can inform you of results (at the doctors’ discretion), but cannot discuss or interpret your results.
If you are worried, they can arrange a telephone appointment for you to speak to a doctor or nurse if necessary.
We have started to send some test results by text - but we would never use this to "break bad news". The nurse or phlebotomist will speak to you about this when your blood test is taken.
